The Lead Digital Sub Editor role is based within the Product & Design team within HSBC Digital Solutions.

The role of the Lead Digital Sub Editor is to support the Product & Design team as well as the wider HSBC Digital Solutions (HDS) teams by creating clear, elegant English appropriate for all UK & international audiences and for all devices supported by the global operation.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Producing high-quality and accurate copy across print, digital and social channels.
  • Producing marketing and service-related digital messaging working within rigid restrictions and guidelines.
  • Producing long and short form copy appropriate to a variety of project goals and audiences.
  • Optimising and reconfiguring existing internal and external communications to adhere to UX best practice.
  • Undertaking quality control, assurance on own work and assisting colleagues by proofing output as required.
  • Ensuring all content presents an accurate overview of brand and is aligned to brand guidelines, tone etc.
  • Ensuring consistency both within and across documents, brands and sub brands.
  • Working across a variety of projects, ensuring adequate and appropriate prioritisation.
  • Collaborative working with business partners particularly Digital Centre of Excellence (DCE), Customer Value Management (CVM), Marketing, Operations, HSBC Operating Services and Technologies (HOST) for Customer benefit.
  • Leading Sub Editor activity to define €˜best in class’ channel propositions and services following user-centred content techniques and industry best practice
  • Leading development of appropriate documentation to support definition of user experience, engaging with stakeholders.
  • Lead, coach and develop effective team through communication, performance management, development plans and reward, recognition practices
  • Ensure all content presents an accurate overview of brand and is aligned to brand guidelines, tone etc.
  • Ensure consistency both within and across documents, brands and sub brands.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
  • Experience working in relevant environments, i.e. Agile, User Experience (UX) and Design environment
  • Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. proved experience as a Digital sub editor & producing copy across Digital channels and to varied audiences
  • Availability to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. Infrequent travel to other UK sites for team & stakeholder meetings
  • Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Photoshop is desirable but not essential
  • Role relevant qualifications, i.e. Journalism or Copywriting qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Desire to find ways to continually improve the service delivered to customers
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to change and will support others to respond in a similar way
  • Experience of supporting others' performance, enabling them to achieve by providing clear direction, motivation and support
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
  • Built effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same
  • Experience of making prompt and practical business decision, even in times of ambiguity, considering various perspectives and taking responsibility for outcomes
  • Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results
  • Supported project teams, managers, showing an understanding of the basic principles of project management
